Cruises are a great opportunity to enjoy a sea voyage and see interesting port cities. Cruise ships offer tourists increased comfort, relaxation, and entertainment on board. You could even say that they are small resort towns with their own restaurants, bars, discos, swimming pools, beauty salons, etc.

However, if you dream of this type of tourism, you should be especially careful. Travel expert Gary Bembridge warned that some of Europe's largest cities are literally overrun with criminals seeking to rob travelers.

Cruise ship passengers have been warned to "stay away" from some popular cities. Gary Bembridge, an experienced expert, noted that not all ports are safe, even if the ship docks there, and guides say that passengers are free to walk around the city. Some of the most visited ports in the Mediterranean are fraught with risks.

In certain areas, especially port areas, there are pickpockets targeting tourists. These streets and areas are often the world's largest transfer points for passengers, as well as major tourist destinations. Travelers get off the ships to admire the sights of a new city or buy some souvenirs on the shore, not even realizing that criminals are already waiting for them.

Bembridge emphasized that tourists should remain vigilant when disembarking in Barcelona in Spain, Rome in Italy, Athens in Greece, and Livorno in Italy.

"These ports are the most popular on Mediterranean cruise routes. Pickpockets often lurk here," the expert said.

The most dangerous area for tourists in Barcelona is La Rambla. The tree-lined street filled with shops and restaurants is one of the busiest in the city.

The capital of Italy, Rome, is even called "a pickpocket's dream". In Athens, people are often robbed in public transport - tourists regularly report to the police about the loss of documents and money.

Livorno, a popular intermediate point for travelers wishing to visit Florence and Pisa, is also included in the rating of dangerous port cities.

Tourists are advised to stick to organized tours to stay safe, and not to risk going for walks along the port streets on their own.
