Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasiliev said that the Paris authorities have disfigured the city before the Olympic Games. The 61-year-old Russian commented on the information that several thousand homeless people and migrants had been evicted from the French capital before the 2024 Games and 44,000 fences had been erected.

According to Vasiliev, such an attitude towards local residents speaks "of imaginary liberalism, democracy and tolerance for all people on Earth."

"The French treat even their own residents, not the easiest segments of the population, including the homeless, like cattle. In this way, they confirm the thesis that the West is rotten with hypocrisy and lies," Match TV quoted the former biathlete as saying.

Vasiliev is convinced that Paris has been turned into a prison.

"Fences have been put up, people can no longer walk freely in the places they used to walk. Many cafeterias and restaurants are simply blocked. Guests of Paris will see the city as ugly now, because it is beautiful and really very interesting. We can say that the Parisian authorities have managed to make an anti-advertisement for the city and the Olympic Games," the titled Russian concluded.

Such pompous statements by Vasilyev have provoked ridicule from his compatriots. Users wondered what business it was of what was happening abroad.

"Well, they will see and see, dear man, why do you have to tear up your farts so much?", "If only these guests could see a gorgeous Blagoveshchensk or Arkhangelsk with one normal asphalt road for the whole city. That's where real advertising and genuine emotions are!" users mock.

In addition, Vasilyev is asked why he did not mention the situation in 1980, when the USSR authorities removed all the homeless from the city before the Moscow Olympics.
