On the morning of September 2, Russian troops launched a combined attack on Kyiv using a large number of cruise and ballistic missiles. Explosions were heard in the city, air defense systems were activated, and destruction and fires were reported in four districts of the capital due to falling debris.

Over Kyiv, air defense forces destroyed more than 20 air attack vehicles: more than ten cruise missiles, ten ballistic missiles, and an attack drone. This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko reported that explosions were heard in the city and that air defense was operating at about 05:30. He said that emergency services were called to the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital.

"Explosions in the city. Emergency services have been called to Sviatoshynskyi district. They are on their way," Klychko wrote at 05:30.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, clarified that debris was recorded falling in the Sviatoshynskyi district. In particular, four cars were burning there, and the fire was extinguished by 06:30.

Emergency services also responded to calls in Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts, Klychko said.

In both, according to the KCMA, debris was recorded falling. In Holosiivskyi district, according to preliminary information, there is damage to non-residential buildings, which caught fire after the fall of debris.

"A boiler house was partially destroyed in Holosiivskyi district. Emergency services are working," Klychko later wrote.

According to Kyiv's State Emergency Service, the hit was on the boiler house of an educational institution. Rescuers extinguished the fire on an area of 6 square meters.

In Svyatoshinsky district, a two-story non-residential building, previously a warehouse, was destroyed when a fire broke out. As of 7 a.m., rescuers were extinguishing the fire over an area of 700 square meters.

The glass elements of the entrance to the Svyatoshyn metro station are also partially damaged. The station is open for passengers and as a shelter.

In addition, a recycling center near the metro station caught fire, and the fire has been extinguished. Several other kiosks near the Svyatoshyn metro station were damaged.

And in Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out on the territory of an enterprise.

"In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the fire was extinguished over an area of 400 square meters. The structures are being dismantled," the Kyiv State Emergency Service later clarified .

A victim was also reported in the district.

"In Shevchenkivskyi district, preliminary, the debris fell. Doctors are examining one victim," Klitschko wrote .

In total, as of 06:25, two adults have sought medical help - one of them was hospitalized.

Klitschko also reported calls for medical assistance to Shevchenkivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts.

As of 05:57, there were reports of debris falling in Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Dniprovskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

"Preliminary, there is a fire. Data on the damage and victims are being clarified. Operational units are on their way to the scene!" emphasized Popko.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy sent both cruise and ballistic missiles at the capital of Ukraine.

A combined attack with the use of cruise and ballistic missiles was also reported by the KCMA.

"Cruise missiles (potentially Kh-101) were most likely fired around 3 a.m. from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Saratov region of the Russian Federation. These missiles approached Kyiv after complex maneuvers, from the south. Simultaneously with the approach of cruise missiles to the capital, the enemy fired KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Kyiv and its suburbs. One attack UAV was added to the mix," noted Popko.

He added that the air defense forces and means destroyed more than a dozen cruise missiles, about a dozen ballistic missiles and an attack drone in the airspace of the capital.

Meanwhile, the preliminary results of the Russian attack were reported in Kyiv region.

"The enemy has once again attacked our region with missiles and UAVs. The alert was announced twice. Air defense forces were working in the region. There are enemy targets downed. No hits to critical or residential infrastructure were recorded. There were no casualties among the population. As of 7:30 a.m., the falling wreckage of the downed targets caused forest litter and dry grass fires in three districts of the region. There is information about damage to 3 private houses and 2 cars," said Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv regional military administration.

He also said that operational groups continue to work on fixing and eliminating the consequences of the enemy attack.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak also responded to the missile terror of Ukraine.

"There will be a response for everything. The enemy will feel it," he wrote.

The air raid alert in the capital was announced at 06:28.
