The new Renault 5 E-Tech electric car is designed to look like the Renault R5 budget hatchback, which was produced from 1972 to 1996. The compact body has straight geometric lines and large elements of simple shapes.
Renault's new budget model will have several powerplants with 95, 122, and 150 horsepower. The most powerful variant will be close to 270 hp and may have all-wheel drive; such an electric car will appear later.
The estimated range is 400 km from a 52 kWh battery pack. Later, a cheaper version with a 40 kWh battery pack and a 300 km range will be offered. The price of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric is about 25,000 euros.
The new Renault 5 E-Tech electric has already caused a stir in the market during pre-orders. Buyers were interested in the model's modernity and low price. The electric car collected 50 thousand applications in the first days.
