Bure renounced his American citizenship

Two-time Olympic champion Pavel Bure has enthusiastically admitted that he has given up his US passport. The former Russian national hockey player expressed confidence that "time will show that I did the right thing" by bending to Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime.

Bure said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The Hockey Hall of Famer added that he needed a U.S. passport while playing in the National Hockey League (NHL), but after his career ended, he decided to return to the aggressor country.

"I used to work in America and had to live in two countries. And when I stopped playing hockey, I realized that I didn't want to be torn between two countries. Why? I like being at home in Russia more. So I decided that my future family and I would live in my country. In fact, it was never even a question. Of course, Russia. North America was a place of work. And when this work came to an end, I handed in my passport. Now time shows that I did the right thing," Bure said.

Earlier, Olympic champion Vladislav Tretiak bowed to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, thanking him with the words "We beat the Americans. Thank you Putin".

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olympic hockey champion Dominik Gashek criticized France for allowing Russian athletes to participate in the European Judo Championships.
