The Sun turned to Kate Hughes, a makeup artist with 30 years of experience, to ask her about the main secrets of rejuvenation with makeup. "I understand the frustration when your appearance doesn't match how you feel inside," says the expert, who is now 54 years old. "When I was 50, I felt a little invisible. My skin became much drier and lost some of its glow. Menopause also played a role," she adds. And she immediately shares some tips that she has tested in practice.

Softer eye shadow colors

When we are young, we like to highlight our eyes with active eyeliner and dark eyeshadow. With age, it starts to work against us. Therefore, take a beveled eyeshadow brush and a chestnut brown product instead of black. This will give you a softer effect for mature skin. Apply the brush to the lower lash line and draw the line as close to them as possible. At the end, point the line slightly upward. At the same time, do not start from the inner corner, and do not draw an arrow along the entire length of the eyelid – this will visually lower the eyes. The same technique can be used with a pencil, the main thing is to choose a softer color.

Combine bronzer and blush

Achieve a fresh glow by using bronzer and blush together. Pick up a little bronzer on a fluffy brush and gently apply it high on the cheekbone. Gently spread the rest of the product over the face. Then add a drop of blush on top of the first product to refresh your look. Choose products with a light, subtle sheen, but avoid excessive shine – it only emphasizes wrinkles. Do not apply bronzer and blush low under the cheeks to avoid creating a tired look.

Plump your lips with makeup

For a fresher look, focus on your lips and where you apply your lip liner. Focus on the middle part, leaving the corners unlined. This will visually lift the lips, not lower them. At the same time, don't be afraid of bright colors – it can boost your self-confidence.

Don't forget about anti-aging care

No amount of makeup can help you erase age from your face if your skin is in disastrous condition. So take care of it every day. Here are six basic steps.

Moisturize. Your skin's best friend is water. Drink it internally and use cosmetics with moisturizing ingredients to maintain a youthful glow.

Use sun protection. Sunscreen is not just for the beach. Apply it every morning, even in the rain, and you will thank yourself for protecting your skin.

Enjoy your sleep. Try to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Your skin repairs itself while you sleep, so don't skip a night's rest.

Use a serum. Include a vitamin C serum in your morning skincare ritual and a retinol product at night. These formulas help to take better care of your skin.
