Experts spoke about skin types and how to care for each of them

Skin care depends on its type

Each of us wants to preserve our natural beauty and youthfulness for as long as possible. To achieve results in this area, people make numerous efforts and spend a lot of time. It's impossible to imagine daily routines without taking care of your skin. However, even simple hygiene procedures have nuances as care must meet the needs of the skin and cannot be the same for everyone.

We hear about skin types since childhood and we should clearly understand that each of them requires special care. Radiance by WebMd explains the differences between skin types and how to take care of them.

A skin type can last a lifetime or change at different times and under the influence of certain reasons. It is influenced by sensitivity to external stimuli, the presence of moisture and fat, elasticity, etc. With this in mind, there are 5 main types.

Normal skin

From the dermatological point of view, normal skin does not have many imperfections (rashes or enlarged pores), it is not oily or dry and has a natural radiant color. Sometimes, under the influence of certain factors (cold wind, hormonal changes, etc.), you may experience dryness or oily skin, but usually normal skin does not flake and looks healthy even without additional efforts or cosmetics.

The easiest way to take care of normal skin is to avoid products that dry out the skin and not to use too harsh scrubs that can damage the moisture barrier and lead to excessive sebum production. When choosing cosmetics, focus only on what you want to improve, such as redness or wrinkles.

Dry skin

It is usually less elastic, has a pale color, and is prone to flaking and redness. This type of skin often feels tight and is prone to more visible fine lines and premature wrinkles.

Excessive dryness is caused by constant dehydration and low sebum production. It can also be hereditary or caused by exposure to dry air, hot water, or certain cosmetics or medications.

When caring for dry skin, avoid alcohol-based cleansers, which can dry out the skin even more, and harsh exfoliants. Moisturize your skin after every wash and apply a cream throughout the day to help lock in moisture. Avoid high temperatures and low humidity in your home or workplace.

Combination skin

This type of skin may be normal in some areas and dry or oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead, chin). Combination skin may be slightly shiny and have larger pores and rashes. This type is the most common and requires different care depending on the area of the face.

Do not use strong moisturizers in the T-zone to prevent sebum from clogging the pores. At the same time, avoid clay masks on dry areas.

Oily skin

This skin type is easily recognized by its excessive shine and enlarged pores. Sebum production moisturizes and protects the skin, but excess sebum can lead to blocked and clogged pores and breakouts.

Oiliness can change due to certain factors. For example, puberty, hormonal imbalance, stress, or heat can increase it.

To cleanse, choose light water-based products and anti-acne products. Use wipes to remove excess oil, but do not wash your face too often. Never press or pick at pimples as this can lead to inflammation and scarring.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin reacts to external stimuli with particular intensity. It can look inflamed, red, itchy, and tingly after using cosmetics. If you have this type of skin, you should carefully monitor what can cause an unpleasant reaction and avoid triggers.

Regardless of your skin type, you shouldn't forget about well-known medical advice:

- Avoid direct sunlight and wear sunglasses and hats;

- Always use broad-spectrum sunscreen;

- Moisturize your skin and drink plenty of water;

- Do not leave makeup on overnight;

- Balance your diet and get rid of bad habits.

Every person is different, and the way to prolong youth cannot be the same for everyone. To preserve your beauty for many years, determine your skin type in a timely manner and organize your daily care according to its needs.
