Persia (now Iran) is considered the birthplace of spinach. It was from there that it came to China in the 7th century, and in the Middle Ages it appeared in Europe. Ukrainians love spinach and add it to a variety of dishes.

But it often happens that spinach spoils very quickly and becomes unusable. The most likely reason for this is washing the leaves. Journalist Kostyantyn Grubych figured out how and when to wash spinach best on Facebook, consulting with professor and quality expert Olena Sydorenko.

The expert says that before buying spinach in the supermarket, you should carefully read the labeling on the package. The fact is that many producers sell already washed spinach, which is completely ready to eat and does not require additional water treatment.

The manufacturer selects a special gas environment for the packaging, which allows for excellent preservation of even washed vegetables and herbs. In addition, you should pay attention to the date of packaging of spinach. It is best if it is packaged no earlier than three days before purchase.

If you decide to buy unpackaged spinach from the market, do not wash it immediately. In this case, the spinach will become unusable the next day. It is best to wash the leaves just before eating them or adding them to a main dish.
