How not to brew tea: what mistakes are made when brewing your favorite drink
For tea to be truly delicious, it is not enough to simply pour water over it. After all, making such a drink requires special attention and knowledge.
Therefore, the FoodOboz editorial team will tell you what mistakes are made when brewing tea and how to do it correctly.
Quality depends on the type of tea
Large-leaf tea has the best flavor. That's why it's worth brewing it. In addition, you need very few leaves for one cup.
If you're used to packaged tea, you should give it up. Anything can be put in a bag. It can be granules or small remnants of tea leaves. It is difficult to call such a drink of high quality.
You should choose a tea that does not contain unnecessary chemicals and flavors.
Tea quality depends on the water
Even if the water is boiled, this does not make it safe to drink. Therefore, you should not use tap water. It is best to choose bottled water.
What should be the temperature?
The taste of tea also depends on the temperature.
For example, green tea and oolong (a traditional Chinese tea that is an intermediate variant between green and black) are brewed with water up to 90 ⁰C, black teas, shu pu-erh (a type of Chinese tea), herbal teas, and blends - 95-100 ⁰C.
Tea should be poured with water that has just been heated. And you can boil it only once.
How to determine the water temperature
1. Immediately after the kettle boils, the water temperature is 100 ⁰C.
2. If the kettle is turned off and the water is calm, the temperature is 95 °C.
3. After 3-4 minutes, the temperature is already 85 ⁰С.
