Delicious and puffy cottage cheese donuts: a tried-and-true recipe

Cottage cheese donuts are our favorite dish from childhood. Unfortunately, you won't find these donuts even in the best bakeries anymore. However, you can easily make them at home because the recipe is quite easy.

A recipe for cottage cheese donuts that has been tested over the years was recently shared on Instagram by food blogger v.vanilinka. By cooking donuts according to this recipe, you can plunge into a happy, carefree childhood for a moment.

Ingredients

  • cottage cheese - 500 gr
  • egg - 1 pc
  • yolk - 1 pc
  • sugar - 100 gr
  • flour - 200 g
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • oil - 0.5-0.7 liters
  • powdered sugar or sugar mixed with cinnamon - for sprinkling

How to cook

Take the eggs and cheese out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking. To save flour, you need to squeeze the cottage cheese well.

1. Mix salt, vanilla sugar, sugar, egg yolk and egg thoroughly.

2. Mix flour and baking powder and add it to the above ingredients. Knead until smooth. The mass should not stick to your hands.

3. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and leave it for 30 minutes.

4. Pinch off a piece of dough and form a ball (keep in mind that it will increase in size during frying). Roll in flour.

5. Heat the oil to 160-180 degrees, put the donuts in it and fry until golden brown.

6. Put the finished donuts on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

7. Roll them in powdered sugar or a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
