All-purpose mushroom sauce: suitable for any side dish
Mushrooms go well with any side dish and meat. Therefore, a sauce made from this product will successfully complement the taste of various dishes. It is made without dairy products, so it is suitable even for fasting.
The idea of making a universal mushroom sauce was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Oksana Kretsul (oksana_kretsul).
Ingredients:
- dried porcini mushrooms - 50 grams
- onion - 1 pc
- oil (can be olive or sunflower)
- salt
- pepper
- water - 500-750 grams
- flour - 40-50 grams
Method of preparation:
1. Pour boiling water over the mushrooms and cover for 20 minutes.
2. Drain the water from the mushrooms, pour boiling water (750 ml), and cook for 20-25 minutes.
3. Finely chop the onion and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown.
4. Fry the flour in a frying pan with a thick bottom, stirring constantly. It should be slightly golden.
5. Drain the mushrooms and add them to the onion, and add the mushroom water in small portions to the flour and stir constantly, then add salt. You can beat with a whisk or blender to avoid lumps.
6. Season the mushrooms and onions generously with salt and pepper.
7. Do not add all the water at once, a little at a time. This way you can control the thickness of the sauce. The more water you add, the thinner the sauce will be. If you have used all the water, but the sauce is too thick, add boiling water.
8. When the mushrooms are well fried with the onion, add the mushroom sauce and simmer together.
