Ingredients for the dough:
- 125 ml of milk
- 125 ml of water
- 100 g of butter
- 10 g of sugar
- a pinch of salt
- 150 g of flour
- 4-5 eggs
- sunflower oil
- powdered sugar
Ingredients for the caramel sauce:
- 100 g sugar
- 100 ml of cream (fat content not less than 30%)
- 50 g of condensed milk
- 80 g of butter
- a pinch of salt
Method of preparation:
1. Prepare the custard dough. Pour milk, water, butter, salt and sugar into a saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil. The butter should be well combined with the milk and water.
3. Add all the flour at once and mix vigorously with a spatula.
4. The dough needs to be dried a little, so keep it on the fire for a few more minutes, stirring actively.
5. Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool slightly.
6. It is better to mix the eggs beforehand and add them to the dough (it is better to add 4 eggs at firs and mix in a food processor or blender. Look at the consistency. The dough should not be torn, it should slowly flow down. If it is too thick, add the fifth egg.
7. Heat a large amount of oil well and use a pastry bag to drop the sticks into the oil. They fry very quickly. When one side is a beautiful golden color, turn them over and fry the other side.
8. Put the churros on a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.
9. Prepare the caramel sauce. To do this, pour sugar into a saucepan, add butter to the brown caramel, and pour hot cream and condensed milk.
10. Stir until smooth and remove from heat. The sauce will cool and become thicker.
11. Sprinkle the churros with powdered sugar and dip in the sauce.
