Lush chocolate sponge cake without milk and oil: how to make it

A classic chocolate sponge cake is quite versatile, as it is suitable for making cakes and can be combined with any cream. The recipe is quite simple and, following all the proportions, the sponge cake is fluffy, soft, moderately moist and never falls.

One of the culinary blogs (lehko_i_smachno) on TikTok published a recipe for a simple chocolate sponge cake, the base for which is prepared with boiling water.

Ingredients (mould with a diameter of 18 cm):

  • eggs - 4 pcs
  • salt - a pinch
  • sugar - 180 g
  • flour - 130 g
  • cocoa - 40 g
  • baking powder - 1 tsp.
  • boiling water - 3 tbsp.
  • vegetable oil - 3 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Beat eggs with a pinch of salt until fluffy.

2. While whisking, gradually add sugar. Beat for 10 minutes.

3. Sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder into the mixture. Mix with a spatula.

4. Add boiling water, mix and immediately add the butter. Mix again.

5. Pour the batter into the tin. Bake in an oven preheated to 170 degrees for 45 minutes.
