Herring is a very budget-friendly yet healthy fish. It contains a lot of vitamins, essential minerals, and fats. It is often used to make salads, forshmak, or simply eaten with onions and oil, salted and pickled.
Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko shared on his website recipes for delicious and very easy-to-prepare herring appetizers with bread, beets, and potatoes that you can make in 10-20 minutes.
1. Herring sandwich
Ingredients:
- herring - 1 pc.
- white bread - 1 pc.
- dill - 2-3 sprigs
- sunflower oil - 3 tbsp.
- peanut butter - 5 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Remove the skin from the herring with a knife, carefully separate the head and tail, and then cut it along the back. Remove all the bones from the fillet.
2. Cut the prepared fillet into small pieces with the calculation of one piece of fillet per piece of bread.
3. Thinly slice the bread and fry it in a frying pan until golden brown.
4. Allow the croutons to cool, then spread a small layer of peanut butter on each slice, top with a piece of herring and a sprig of dill, and serve.
2. Appetizer with beets and herring
Ingredients:
- beets - 2-3 pcs.
- smoked pears - 2-3 pcs.
- flax seeds - 1 tsp.
- sunflower oil - 2-3 tbsp
- herring - 2 pcs.
- dill - 2 sprigs
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the beets, wrap them in foil and bake in the oven. Peel the beetroot and cut it into thin slices.
2. Spread a thin layer on a plate.
3. Pour boiling water over the pears for 15-20 minutes, then cut into small cubes.
4. Cut the herring fillet into thin strips, then chop it into small cubes and put the mixture on the beets.
5. Put the pears and flax seeds on top of the fish, drizzle with oil, and garnish with dill sprigs.
