Exquisite gravlax: an incredible salmon dish with a Scandinavian flavor
Gravlax is a Scandinavian fish dish. Literally, the name of this appetizer translates as "buried salmon". It is traditional for countries such as: Norway, Finland, Spain and Denmark. But it is more popular in Sweden.
In the original recipe, the fish was first mashed with salt and spices and then buried in the ground. Of course, now no one uses this method anymore, because instead of earth, food film or foil is now perfectly suitable. The modern recipe of this dish was shared on Instagram on the page masterchefstb.
Ingredients
- Red fish - 1 kg
- Salt - 3 tbsp.
- Sugar - 1 tbsp.
- Vodka - 20 ml
- Dill - 10 gr
- Parsley - 10 gr
- Horseradish - 25 g
- Lemon juice - 20 g
- Beet - 1 big beet or 2 small ones
Method of preparation:
1. Fillet of fish completely clean and get rid of the bones.
2. Finely chop the greens, and grate the beets.
3. Salt, sugar, horseradish, vodka and lemon juice add to the beets and greens. Mix everything thoroughly.
4. Put half of the marinade on the bottom of the mold.
5. Place the fish and add the rest of the marinade, pressing it firmly against the fish. You can put it under the press.
6. Put in the refrigerator for 8 hours. If you want the fish to be ready faster, leave it at room temperature for 4-5 hours.
