What can replace deodorant: five successful options

Deodorant can be made from natural ingredients

There can be many reasons for avoiding store deodorants. From the desire to switch to more natural cosmetics to concern for the environment. But it is important to choose a product that would be effective, easy to use and gentle to the skin.

OBOZREVATEL tells about several recipes for such products. They can be prepared from available ingredients. Some you can buy ready-made.

Baking soda or corn starch

These culinary substances can also be excellent hygiene products. To make a deodorant from starch or baking soda, mix 1/8 teaspoon of dry powder with a little water. The result should be a paste-like substance. It should be applied evenly to the armpits and let it dry.

Important - in people with sensitive skin, baking soda can cause irritation. Therefore, before using it, you should conduct a reaction test.

Lemon juice

The antibacterial properties of lemon will help you avoid bad odor, because it is the bacteria that provoke its occurrence. To use it as a deodorant, you need to squeeze about one teaspoon of fresh juice, moisten a cotton pad with it and wipe your underarms.

Important - this product should not be applied immediately after shaving, it will cause a strong burning sensation. It is also better to conduct a preliminary test for skin sensitivity to lemon juice.

Antiseptic

Hand antiseptic liquids are good against bacteria. But choose a product that, in addition to alcohol, contains skin-care ingredients like glycerin, aloe, or calendula. Pure alcohol will be very drying to the skin.

Important - this product is also not suitable for use immediately after shaving.

Coconut oil

A mixture of coconut oil with baking soda and corn starch can replace a solid deodorant. To make it, you need to take 6 tablespoons of oil and 4 tablespoons each of baking soda and starch and thoroughly mix everything into a homogeneous mass. Then this mass is used to form a handy stick and store it in the refrigerator.

Another version of deodorant on the basis of coconut oil is made with the addition of tea tree oil - a strong antiseptic, which, in addition, has a pleasant aroma. For 0.5 cup of coconut oil, only 10 drops of the fragrance product are needed. They, too, are mixed well and formed into a stick.

Crystal deodorant

This product contains nothing but mineral salts that protect against excessive sweating. Apply this deodorant to damp skin or immerse it in water before use. It will create a thin protective barrier and will work all day long. Ideally, it should be applied in several layers, letting each of them completely dry. Then protection is maximized. An additional advantage is that this product does not leave traces on your clothes.
