Amid rumors of Russian opposition leader Oleksii Navalnyi's death in prison on February 16, his children and wife have remained silent. It is known that the eldest daughter of the Russian often mentioned him in public, although she did not give up social life during a difficult time for the family, and her brother disappeared from the information space.

OBOZ.UA decided to remind Ukrainians what is known about Navalnyi's heirs, what they have been doing over the years, and where they live.

Daria Navalna

Navalnyi's daughter was born on September 6, 2001, so she is now 22 years old. She studied near Moscow, often traveled the world with her father, had scandals with pro-Putin teachers because of her political position, and was preparing to enter a foreign university.

In 2019, the Russian girl was accepted by two prestigious universities at once - Stanford University in California and one of the Ivy League universities. Daria chose Stanford, where she moved to in 2020.

Shortly before that, she ran her blog, where she talked to "Putin's henchmen, supporters of the USSR, apolitical" and other guests. The last video was about studying in America.

In 2020, the Russian woman ran out of money due to the blocking of her family's accounts, but she vowed to keep her spirits up and steal oranges from trees in California.

"Old Putin put his hand on my student money, but the world is full of good people, and I will not be lost. And don't forget that my university is located in California, so if life gets really tough, I'll sneak along the roads at night, tear oranges from the trees, and eat them," the student wrote.

In recent years, Navalna has begun to tell the world more about her father's arrest. For example, writing a column in TIME about the conditions of his detention, publishing videos in defense of the prisoner, giving interviews to CNN, showing off on the Oscar red carpet, winning the prize for best documentary, and so on.

According to the location of her Instagram account, Daria Navalna is currently in the United States.

Zakhar Navalnyi

Zakhar, 15, who leads a less media-friendly lifestyle and whose page Daria Navalna does not follow, was also on the same red carpet with his mother and sister in evening wear.

He studied at a Russian school, but nothing is known about the teenager's current whereabouts. It is assumed that he has remained in Germany since 2019.

In an interview, Oleksii Navalnyi shared that his younger son was so used to danger that he did not react to his father's poisoning.

"It's a funny story. Perhaps not very complimentary for Zakhar, but it shows well the realities in which we live. Dasha tells it to me: Zakhar is sitting and playing GTA online, and she tells him: "Dad was poisoned". He replies: "Uh-huh," and continues to play. "He's been poisoned, he's in a coma!" He's like: "Yes, in a coma is bad," the oppositionist said three years ago.
