"My Brother": Jamala presented a new song, which she dedicated to a friend who died in the war
Singer Jamala presents a new track "My Brother". A year ago, in January, she lost a very close friend during the war in Ukraine, who was like a brother to her. It is the bright memories of him that are embodied in her new work.
This song is a dedication to all the brothers and sisters to whom you did not have time to say important things. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of similar stories in these two years. According to Jamala, the least we can do for the people we loved and who died protecting us is to remember them, to quote them.
"Can an author cry over their work while sitting in front of the keyboard and computer, if they feel it? And it doesn't have to be out of regret, as in the song "1944," or out of melancholy and memories, as in "The Way Home," "Confused," and "I Miss You." It happened to me again. A year ago, in January, I lost a very close friend, my brother, but my memories of him were so bright that somehow I couldn't cry until I wrote this song. My favorite co-author Tetiana Mylymko ("Kryla"), as always, brought my entire stream of emotions into order, and at that moment I cried, but again, with some light tears. Unfortunately, during this time of war, we have a lot of similar stories. The least we can do towards the people we loved and who died defending us is to remember, to recall, not to be afraid to love them, to love the memories of them, to recall their jokes, their musical tastes, to quote them. It helped me, maybe it will help you too? Write them a letter," the singer says.
Along with the track, Jamala presented a sensual lyric video. In it, the singer writes a letter in a location familiar to her fans from her video "I Believe in You". It is the house that becomes the key location in "My Brother". Here the singer repeatedly went live to her audience, and some of Jamala's most important videos were filmed here.
The singer is always frank with her fans. So this time Jamala also lets each of you into her memories, and opens the door of her own home. Another key detail of the video is the cell phone. It is a symbol of connection and memory, with the help of which we can save important photo and video moments, write down our thoughts, call our loved ones, write and send them messages.
