Andrii Khlyvniuk, who is defending Ukraine in the Armed Forces, explained the phenomenon of "superheroes": we should not divide people into peaceful and non-peaceful
Andrii Khlyvniuk, the frontman of the Boombox band, who went to the front to fight against the occupiers since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, explained the only factor that distinguishes the military from civilians. He urged not to distance oneself from people in uniform because the war "concerns everyone."
In an interview with Voice of America, the singer explained that the "superheroes" at the front used to be ordinary civilians with their own experiences and problems, so dividing society into peaceful and non-peaceful is not a good idea.
"Please do not divide people into peaceful and non-peaceful. Those who have been appointed superheroes and those who will solve this problem by a society that has not seen war are the same as you, only in green clothes. With the same problems, the same worries, the same ambitions, depression, and victory. Everything is the same. They are just dressed differently. Maybe they have seen a little more and are now capable of more. But there should be no gap because it concerns everyone," Khlyvniuk said.
He also spoke about his observation of the perception of the war by different Ukrainians: those in Ukraine and those abroad. It turned out that there is a difference, and often those who are farther away from the front line understand less about what war is.
"The further from the front, the more bloodthirsty the audience is. When dumb guys of conscription age abroad shout "Death to the enemies", you think: "Okay, death, of course, but we are somehow far from that place." For them, it's something different, some other people, knights without fear, fighting somewhere 24/7 with their golden swords. And we need to change this somehow," the soldier said.
In particular, the artist admitted that he feels guilty because he is often abroad for Boombox's charity performances. He explains that this is actually a secondary matter, and the priority is still the frontline, even though it is relatively safe for Khlyvniuk. Currently, the frontman is in the second line of defense, so it protects him from enemy infantry.
