Yuriy Boyko
Yuriy Anatolievych Boyko is a Ukrainian politician, former Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
Brief biography
Yuriy Boyko was born in Gorlovka, Donetschina, on October 9, 1958.
Yuriy Boyko received his higher education as a chemical engineer at the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology.
Yuriy Boyko started his political career in Serhiy Tihipko's Labor Ukraine party, which he joined in 2001.
And in 2002 Yuriy Boyko took the chair of the head of Naftogaz NJSC, which he led until 2005.
In 2005, Yuriy Boyko was elected head of the Republican Party of Ukraine. However, later he left the Republican Party of Ukraine and joined the Party of Regions, on the lists of which he was elected to the People's Deputies of Ukraine in the parliamentary elections in 2007.
In 2010, Yuriy Boyko joined the government of Mykola Azarov, taking the chair of the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry. In 2012, Viktor Yanukovych appointed Yuriy Boyko as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Yuriy Boyko took part in the early presidential election in 2014, shortly after the Revolution of Dignity, but lost the election race.
Shortly after the early elections, in September 2014, Yuriy Boyko became the head of the newly formed Opposition Bloc.
In 2018, Yuriy Boyko was kicked out of the Opposition Bloc and became co-chairman of the party "Opposition Platform "For Zhyttya".
Yuriy Boyko is one of thirty-six MPs who voted against the Law on the Recognition of Ukrainian Sovereignty over the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In 2019, Yuriy Boyko took part in the presidential elections in Ukraine. In the first round of elections, Yuriy Boyko came in third place - more than two million voters voted for him. Shortly before the elections, in March 2019, Yuriy Boyko, together with Viktor Medvedchuk , visited Moscow, where he communicated with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

The conflict in Donbas should be solved exclusively through negotiations of all parties involved. This requires political will of the country's leadership and its president, direct negotiations between the parties and a tendency to compromise among politicians.
