Taras Stepanenko is a Ukrainian soccer player, midfielder of Shakhtar Donetsk and the Ukrainian national team.
Taras Stepanenko was born in Velyka Novoselka village in Donetsk region on August 8, 1989.
He started playing soccer in his childhood, he studied at the FC "Cosmos" soccer school, FC "Torpedo" (Zaporizhzhia).
Initially Stepanenko played in ZaporizhzhyaMetallurg Football Club, where he made his debut in 2006. Just a year after the start of his professional career, in 2007, Taras Stepanenko played for the first time in the High League of Ukraine, in the match Metalurg (Zaporizhzhya) - Dynamo (Kyiv).
Already in May 2010, Stepanenko agreed on the transfer to FC Shakhtar Donetsk, signed his first five-year contract with the team and made his winning debut in a match against FC Tavria (Simferopol).
In 2015, Taras Stepanenko extended his stay at Shakhtar by signing a second contract for five years.
From 2007 to 2010 Taras Stepanenko played for the Ukraine youth team.
In 2010 he joined the Ukrainian national soccer team as a midfielder. As of 2019 year continues to play in its composition.
