
Sviatoslav Shevchuk
Shevchuk was born on January 5, 1970 in Stryi in Lvivshchina. In 1991-1992 he studied at the Center for Philosophical and Theological Studios in Buenos Aires (Argentina), and then continued his studies (from 1992 to 1994) at the Lviv Spiritual Seminary.
Then again there was a "foreign" period: until 1999 he studied in Rome, where he earned a doctorate in theology. Since 1999 - Prefect of the Lviv Ecclesiastical Seminary of the Holy Spirit. Since 2001 - Vice Dean of the Theological Faculty of the Lviv Theological Academy.
In 2002-2005 he was Lubomyr Huzar's private secretary. Since 2009 he has been recognized as a deputy of the Diocese of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Buenos Aires. He was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God in Buenos Aires in 2010.
The year 2011 opened a new page in Shevchuk's biography: the holy father was made head of the UGCC.
