Alina Ilnazovna Zagitova is a Russian figure skater.

Biography

She was born, as noted in Wikipedia, on May 18, 2002 in Izhevsk, Russia.

She is a Tatar by nationality.

On February 23, 2018, Zagitova won the gold medal in individual competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She also broke the world record there.

Alina's father is a hockey coach Ilnaz Zagitov.

The mother has nothing to do with sports, but since her youth she loves figure skating.

Parents named their daughter in honor of rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva.

As of January 2018, Zagitova was ranked 5th in the International Skating Union (ISU) rankings.
