Daria Zarivna, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, once again reminded of the non-transparent mechanisms by which Russia gained the status of a permanent member of the UN Security Council. She emphasized the illegitimacy of the Russian Federation's staying in this status also because of the crimes against humanity it commits in Ukraine.

Daria Zarivna openly stated this at a meeting of the United Nations on Tuesday, December 4.

The advisor to the head of the OP emphasized that Russia found itself in the UN Security Council without following legal procedures after the collapse of the Soviet Union. She drew attention to the fact that there is no document that officially transfers this status from the USSR to Moscow.

"Russia has no place here, neither legally nor morally. They occupied the permanent seat of the USSR and interpret this as a license to invade sovereign states and brandish their nuclear weapons. Their imperial exhibitionism, threats and deception in the Security Council must finally come to an end," Zarivna said.

She also emphasized that Russia's current actions, including its war crimes in Ukraine, are a direct violation of the UN Charter, undermining the foundations of international security and stability.

Zarivna emphasized that crimes against Ukrainian children are a systemic policy of Russia.

"For two years in a row, the army of the permanent member of the Security Council, Russia, has been included in the list of gross violators of children's rights. This is the first time in the history of the UN. Instead of defending peace, Russia is betraying the very principles it swore to protect. It should remain on this 'list of shame' next year and beyond until it stops its atrocities against Ukrainian children," emphasized the Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of the United Nations.

The Ukrainian side continues to insist on reforming the UN Security Council to deprive Russia of the ability to block important decisions related to global security.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Zarivna spoke at the UN Security Council about Russian crimes against Ukrainian children. She emphasized that Russia has neither legal nor moral right to a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
