Biden talks to journalists after his visit to Germany

There is no consensus among the leaderships of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the United States on granting Ukraine permission to use long-range weapons of its partners to hit targets deep within Russia. Nevertheless, these countries intend to continue to "support Ukraine."

At least that's what US President Joe Biden said after a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Germany. He did not specify who opposed the idea the most, but he also did not rule out that he himself might change his mind.

In particular, journalists asked Biden whether there was such a possibility, as this is one of "the main proposals that Zelenskyy put out."

"In — in foreign policy, there’s never a, 'Well, I never change my mind.' Right now, there is no consensus for long-range weapons," the US president replied.

The US leader also hinted that the lives of Ukrainians are worth the peace of mind of people in other countries.

"As Ukraine faces a tough winter, we must, we must sustain our resolve. And I know the cost is heavy, but make no mistake, it bears in comparison to the cost of living in a world where aggression prevails, where large states attack and bully smaller ones simply because they can," Reuters quoted Biden as saying.

He said that he would continue to discuss with partners how to increase military support for Ukraine and strengthen its civilian energy infrastructure "by unlocking the value of frozen Russian assets."

"We’re going to stay with Ukraine. We’re going to make sure they continue to have capabilities," he added, avoiding answering the question about Ukraine's membership in NATO.
