Air, sea and land drones: Poland wants to create unmanned troops following Ukraine's example
Poland plans to create drone troops within its army. The country was prompted to do so by the example of Ukraine, which is actively using various types of drones in the war against the Russian occupiers.
Minister of National Defense of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz shared his plans with journalists. "Learning the lessons of the war in Ukraine, we are creating a component of drone troops. We are creating drone units," the Defense Minister said.
The Polish army wants to develop not only aerial vehicles. The army will also be equipped with land and surface drones.
"Their use is justified not only in the air. There are maritime drones, there are land drones... At a meeting with the Navy leadership, we talked about the use of drones and how to adapt the technology so as not to be left behind," the minister said.
As a reminder, in February 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the creation of a new separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: the Unmanned Systems Forces.
As previously reported, on March 4, an unknown object fell in a field near the city of Milakowo in the Warmia and Mazury Voivodeship in Poland. The police said it was probably a weather balloon.
