Russian troops continue to make active efforts to drive the Ukrainian Defense Forces out of the Donetsk region. The enemy plans to cross the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal.

This was stated by the press officer of the 26th Artillery Brigade named after Major General Roman Dashkevych Oleh Kalashnikov. He commented on the situation at the frontline on the Kyiv24 TV channel on Friday, September 6.

The Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal is our defense line, which the enemy is trying to cross, the military said.

"I would say that they [the enemy] are not trying to make a bridgehead. They would like to cross the canal altogether and try to move on," Kalashnikov said.

Currently, the Russians are trying to create a bridgehead on the right bank in the direction of Kalynivske. This has been going on for about two months, Kalashnikov said. From there, the Russian invaders plan to take another operational step.

"However, the enemy does not succeed. And as I see it, they will not succeed in the near future, no matter how hard they try," said the representative of the 26th Brigade.

The Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal is an artificial water supply channel in the Donetsk region, built in the late 50s of the last century. Water is transported through pumping stations.

The beginning of the canal is located a few kilometers from the village of Raihorodok in Kramatorsk district, and the end is near the Kalmiuske Reservoir south of the city of Yasynuvata.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a new interview with an American TV channel that due to serious delays in Western military aid, the aggressor country Russia had a 12-to-1 advantage over Ukraine in the use of artillery shells at one point in the war. Now the situation is better, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet received all the weapons promised by our partners.
