NSDC predicts when Russia's massive attacks on Ukrainian energy sector are likely
Russia may resume massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector. This threat is growing with the approach of winter and frost.
Ukraine is currently preparing for Russian attacks on the energy system. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko at the opening of the Energy in Industry 2024 exhibition in Kyiv on October 15.
According to him, Ukraine is preparing for massive attacks by Russian aggressors as winter approaches.
"With the start of the heating season, we can expect massive Russian strikes on the energy sector," Lytvynenko said.
At the same time, the NSDC Secretary emphasized that the Ukrainian energy sector has shown its ability to implement innovative solutions during the war. Thanks to them, Lytvynenko emphasized, Russia still cannot destroy Ukraine's economy, no matter how hard it tries.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that EU ministers are preparing for a meeting on the situation in the energy sector. The meeting will focus on the issue of Russian gas supplies, and the participants will discuss various plans to replace Russia in the EU energy market, as well as the participation of the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
The meeting will be held against the backdrop of the expiration of the agreement on the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, which will cease to be valid on January 1.
