The US Presidential Administration will announce a new $150 million military aid package to Ukraine next Monday. In particular, the package will include HAWK interceptor missiles and 155 mm artillery ammunition.

This was reported by two American officials to Reuters. The package will be provided through the Presidential Drawdown Authority program, which allows the US president to quickly transfer defense goods and services from US stockpiles to support allies.

This is the Biden administration's response to Ukraine's desperate requests for air defense support as Russia has been conducting air strikes against Ukrainian energy facilities in recent weeks. This is how US officials commented on the content of the new aid package.

The number of missiles and rockets is not disclosed for security reasons. But in addition to HAWK interceptors and 155 mm artillery ammunition, the package will include other munitions and equipment to support Ukraine's defense needs, the officials added.

The United States began supplying MIM-23 HAWK interceptor missiles to Ukraine in 2022.

HAWK is an abbreviation for Homing All the Way Killer, which means "homing all the way through the flight." However, the US military prefers to call the missiles "hawk".

The United States first demonstrated such missiles in the 1950s. Since then, the "killer missiles" have been modernized many times.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Finland has announced a new, 24th package of military assistance to Ukraine. Its cost will be 159 million euros. The decision on the new aid package was made by President Alexander Stubb on June 28 at the suggestion of the government.
