Umerov: Ukraine's strategic goal is to return to 1991 borders, we will fight

Umerov names Ukraine's strategic goal

Ukraine will not give up on returning the occupied territories within the 1991 borders. However, this is a strategic goal that may differ from military plans.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. He emphasized that only Ukraine and its partners know these military plans.

"Military objectives can be different. The intensity of actions always depends on what our enemy will do. If the Russians continue to exert pressure, if they continue to circumvent sanctions, trade gas and oil, buy metals, chemicals, minerals and other resources, it will require more effort and resources from us. But we will fight until we achieve our strategic goal," the minister said.

Umerov explained that military objectives are achieved according to a plan and in coordination with partners. "We will continue to regain control over our territories. Only Ukraine and its partners know what the plan is for 2024," the defense minister said.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on January 14, participants of the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) discussed the formula for peace for Ukraine. Representatives of more than 80 countries spoke about world order and justice.

The day before, Zelensky gave a sharp response to what the freezing of the war in Ukraine would lead to. He warned that in this case, the aggressor country Russia would prepare for "revenge."
