The FSB called Budanov a "legitimate target" and tried to threaten him: DIU responds

Russia continues to accuse Ukraine of "crimes against Russia". The aggressor state has labeled the heads of Ukrainian intelligence services as "criminals" and called them "legitimate targets": the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, was singled out for special mention.

Threats to eliminate Budanov and other Ukrainian security officials were made by the head of the Russian Federal Security Service, Alexander Bortnikov, who generously gave comments to Russian propagandists on March 26. The DIU commented on these threats to OBOZ.UA.

Answering a question from one of the propagandists, Bortnikov called the heads of Ukrainian special services "legitimate targets."

"Those who commit crimes against Russia and Russian citizens are legitimate targets," the FSB chief said.

He also mentioned Budanov, who, he said, is also going to be eliminated by the Russian special services.

The propagandist didn't think this answer was enough, so he asked why the Ukrainian security forces hadn't been killed yet.

"Everything is ahead," Bortnikov responded to the question.

The DIU has already responded to the FSB chief's threats. In a commentary to OBOZ.UA, military intelligence representative Andriy Yusov noted that modern Russia is completely repeating the actions of the Nazis during World War II.

"There is nothing new in these statements of the Kremlin elders. Just as the war criminals of the Third Reich threatened the entire world and the leaders of democratic countries before their final defeat. The Russian Federation, a state aggressor, a state terrorist, is waging a genocidal war against Ukrainians and, among other things, is trying to destroy and is doing everything possible to destroy the military and political leadership of Ukraine," he said.

Russian terrorists interpret the regular references to the DIU and Budanov in military intelligence as a kind of recognition of the effectiveness of their work.

"On the one hand, this is another recognition of the activities of both General Budanov and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and on the other hand, it is a certain agony, because, again, this is a repetition, it has already happened many times. The legitimate targets for international justice are war criminals, the top of the Putin regime, and justice will not escape them," Yusov emphasized.

Earlier, it became known that the head of the SBU Vasyl Maliuk was "arrested" in absentia in Russia. The Basmanny Court of Moscow "sent" the head of the Ukrainian special service "into custody" for two months.

Maliuk himself said that this decision "does not deserve any attention" and that he is interested in only one trial – that of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
