"Saved by a miracle": DIU special unit commander shared how Budanov came under fire on the front line

In the spring of 2022, Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, came under Russian fire near Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. He was saved from the debris by a nearby armored vehicle.
This was reported by the commander of the assault group of the DIU's Shamanифе special forces unit with a call sign Said. His story is cited by NV.
According to the soldier, his fighters were conducting a counterattack and recaptured one of the city's large neighborhoods.
"It was possible to develop and expand further, but unfortunately, the enemy pushed the other flank about two blocks. Our flank fell completely. But we were still standing. Until [the Russians] blew up the bridges [across the Siverskyi Donets River, which connected the city to the "big land"]. Then we received the order to withdraw. We defended Severodonetsk to the last," said the officer.
At the same time, Budanov arrived on the front line to join his troops. The occupation forces shelled the area with artillery. The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine was saved by a miracle: the fragments of an enemy shell hit a nearby armored vehicle.
"Said" also said that Shamanbat was often sent to the hot spots of the frontline to strengthen the defense in an emergency. "We performed the function of both military intelligence and a combat unit, a kind of stabilization moment," the officer explained.

- The commander of the man-portable air defense system group of the Artan special unit, Oleksandr "Liutyi", said that Budanov convinced 19 Russian occupiers to surrender by radio during one of the operations.
