Israeli Foreign Minister says the country is morally with Ukraine, but must reckon with Russia

Israeli Foreign Minister says his country must reckon with Russia

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said that his country morally supports Ukraine, which has been repelling the Russian occupation army for almost a year and a half. At the same time, the foreign minister added that Israel must take into account the terrorist country of Russia, as hundreds of thousands of Jews live there.

Cohen also boasted that Israel was the only Middle Eastern country to send a foreign minister to Kyiv. He said this in an interview with The Jerusalem Post.

According to him, Israel stands on the same side as Western powers and morally supports Ukraine in the war against Russia. At the same time, Cohen noted that Russia is a significant player, so his country must reckon with Russia.

"Russia is a player in the Middle East, and there are hundreds of thousands of Jews in Russia, so we are expressing a moral position of support for Ukraine, while preserving our security interests and the interests of the Jewish Agency in Russia," the Israeli Foreign Minister said.

Israel's Foreign Minister stressed that his country supports the position of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the peace agreement, the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Recall that Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Israeli politicians are rather reserved in providing military assistance to Ukraine, as the country has a high proportion of pro-Russian population. The authorities make decisions based on the domestic political situation.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Israel to side with our country in the war unleashed by the aggressor country Russia. He reminded that this country is also suffering from the aggressor's actions.
