"If you look at the map": President of Estonia speaks about Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO

Estonian President Alar Karis is convinced that there are no other alternatives but for Ukraine to join NATO and the European Union. However, according to him, this should happen after the war is over. Europe does not need a "gray zone" where the enemy can invade again.

The Estonian leader said this in an interview with TSN. He is convinced that there are enough countries in NATO that will firmly stand by the fact that the EU and NATO are the only possible future for Ukraine.

"But if you look at the map, there is no alternative – Ukraine must become a member of NATO, a member of the European Union. We don't need a "gray zone" that the enemy can invade again sooner or later," Karis said.

He did not rule out that the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO could be raised as a matter of negotiations with Russia, saying that this is nothing new.

"Of course, Russia will do everything to prevent this, as they did with us. But now even neutral countries like Sweden and Finland have suddenly joined NATO. And they came very well prepared to be full members of the Alliance," the Estonian leader emphasized.

He is convinced that the same applies to Ukraine. According to Karis, in the military sense, our country will come out of this war much stronger than it was before.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna said that Ukraine will be part of NATO as a sovereign and independent country within the 1991 state borders. Other options were not discussed.

– Former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine deserves an invitation to join NATO, even before the next NATO summit in The Hague (Netherlands) on June 26-27, 2025. And "when there is a will, there is a way," he said.
