Both Ukraine and Russia perform operations despite worsening weather: ISW names key areas. Map

Fighting continues despite worsening weather

Despite the deteriorating weather in Ukraine followed by rain and snow, the fighting at the front continues. Both Russian and Ukrainian troops continue to conduct offensives. First of all, we are talking about the Kherson region and the Kupiansk direction of the front.

This is stated in the analysis of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Referring to the words of the Kherson Regional Military Advisor Serhii Khlan, they noted that Russian shelling of the right bank of the region has decreased due to bad weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Nadiia Zamryha, said the day before that the occupiers continued to storm the Kupiansk direction despite the snow and frost. According to her, the number of enemy attacks is likely to decrease due to weather conditions, but they will not stop their offensive operations completely.

During a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Kyiv on November 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine's capabilities before the winter period.

At the same time, Russian "war bloggers" have been writing in recent days that both sides have faced problems using drones to adjust artillery fire as bad weather conditions reported along the entire front. In addition, mud in the fields makes it difficult for vehicles to move, but Ukrainian and Russian forces continue to maneuver and operate in all directions.

The ISW suggests that the cold winter weather is likely to prompt a resumption of more active hostilities, and the ongoing rainy weather is unlikely to stop Ukrainian or Russian attacks.
