"You bury your own and strangers": Lavrov is harshly put in his place online after speaking about Western aggression in sports

Lavrov criticizes the IOC

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency of "politicizing sport," repeating the traditional and ridiculous narratives of Kremlin propaganda. This statement provoked ridicule and outright trolling from fans.

"Without exaggeration, the West is engaged in sports aggression, as well as many other aggressions, including diplomatic aggression. Russia wants sport to be completely out of politics, while the World Anti-Doping Agency and the IOC are joining forces to completely water down the principles of the Olympic Charter and finally put sport at the service of the interests of maintaining Western hegemony in all possible spheres of human life," Lavrov said in an interview with the pseudo-news agency TASS.

Readers of the Sports.ru portal noted that the Russian Foreign Minister is an outright hypocrite, because it is in Russia that athletes are employees of law enforcement agencies, openly support the regime of dictator Vladimir Putin and become deputies. The fans also reminded Lavrov of the criminal war against Ukraine.

"It's better to bury one Olympic movement than so many people", "Grasshopper got a new shipment of mid-board from Argentina", "If that's the case, why do we need his corpse?", "Not the way you bury your own and others", "And in paradise, sport is a continuation of politics. Where all 'professional' sports exist on state money, 'athletes' walk around with boots", "Yes, yes, bees against honey. Russian officials use sports for politics more than any other country in the world," the comments read.
