World Wrestling Championships change rules due to war in Ukraine

The International Wrestling Federation (UWW) has opposed the mandatory handshakes of Ukrainian and Russian athletes at the World Championships, which are currently taking place in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. The organization made the relevant changes to the rules to avoid scandals over the position of our compatriots in relation to the aggressors.

This was reported by the website of the propaganda TV channel "Match TV". In addition, the UWW has imposed restrictions on the work of referees from Russia and Ukraine at the prestigious tournament.

"The leadership of the United World of Wrestling has recommended that Russian and Ukrainian athletes not shake hands at the World Championships to avoid incidents if one of the opponents refuses. Also, Russian judges cannot be assigned to battles of Ukrainian wrestlers, and Ukrainian judges cannot be assigned to battles involving Russians," Match TV claims.

Earlier, Ukrainian Valentin Blesetsky did not shake hands with Russian representative Abasgadzhi Magomedov, which angered the president of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBI) Mikhail Mamiashvili.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Russian Fencing Federation (RFF) President Ilgar Mamedov said he was afraid of Russian athletes participating in competitions where Ukrainians are competing.
