Ronaldo scored his 900th goal

Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has once again rewritten the history of world football. In the Nations League match against Croatia, the 39-year-old forward scored his 900th career goal, becoming the first player to reach this milestone.

Ronaldo made it 2-0 in the 34th minute. After a cross from Nuno Mendes on the left flank into the opposition goal area, Cristiano outpaced the defender and sent the ball into the net from a few meters.

This episode was one of the most emotional in Ronaldo's career. The footballer ran to the stands to celebrate the goal, but at some point, he fell to the lawn with his hands over his face. His teammates warmly greeted the record holder, and the fans gave him a standing ovation.

Ronaldo has already played his 131st goal for the national team. The Portuguese scored the vast majority of his 900 goals with his right foot – 573. The forward scored 173 goals with his left foot, 153 with his head, and twice Cristiano scored in another way.

The Portuguese goal-scorer is ahead of his eternal rival Lionel Messi in the list of the best scorers in the history of football, who has scored 838 goals. The legendary Pele scored 762 times in his career.
