The head of the RCF press service made an unexpected statement

Kirill Zangalis, head of the press service of the Russian Chess Federation, has spoken out about what is happening in his native country. During one of the broadcasts, the 45-year-old native of Tashkent compared Russia to Nazi Germany.

World Rapid Chess Champion (Astana, 2012) and World Blitz Champion (Doha, 2016) Sergey Karjakin, who changed his citizenship from Ukrainian to Russian in 2009, was also there.

Commenting on the Russian Federation's return to the international sports scene, Zangalis suggested that Russia will be brought back in the same way Germany was brought back after World War II.

"I hope that at some point everything bad that surrounds us will end. We went through World War II and Germany played afterwards. I am sure that Russia will still take part in all world competitions," Zangalis said.

Kariakin has advocated support for the SMO since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and displayed z-symbols in every possible way, for which he received a six-month disqualification from FIDE.

On June 2 last year, Kariakin received a state award of the aggressor country. This event was called a real disgrace in the network. The official reason for such a decision of the authorities was questioned as well.

Last year Serhiy traveled to Donetsk to deliver aid to the 117th rifle regiment of the "DPR" police department.
