Ukrainian Arouca defender Bohdan Milovanov became involved in a scandal in Portugal. In the match of the 14th round of the national championship against Boavista, the 25-year-old former player of the Ukrainian youth national team was kicked off the field for asking for medical help.

At the beginning of the second half, Milovanov was injured, sat down on the turf and showed the bench that he could not continue the match and needed a replacement. The 43-year-old referee, Thiago Martins, instead of calling for doctors on the field according to protocol, completely ignored the situation and blew the whistle to resume the match.

Milovanov had to continue the match and take part in the game episode because of the pain. After the ball left the field, Bohdan fell to the turf again, asking for a substitute.

This time the referee ran up to the Ukrainian, not to help him up and off the field, but to show him a yellow card for simulation. In the 42nd minute, Milovanov already had a mustard card, so the second yellow turned into an automatic sending off.

No matter how much the Arowki captain and teammates tried to explain to the referee that the Ukrainian player needed medical help and was not faking it, it didn't affect the result. Milovanov had to leave the arena.

Arouca ended up playing the match in the minority, which did not prevent them from winning 4-0.
