Zakharov responds to Vyalbe

Sochi 2014 Olympic champion Ruslan Zakharov has ridiculed the statement by the president of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (RRF), Elena Vyalbe, that the West is looking at the Russian Olympics with envy. The winner of the Games in the short track noted that none of his foreign colleagues asked him about the competition, and it was simply impossible to watch it.

Zakharov said this in an interview with Sports.ru. The 36-year-old native of Ufa, who has won the European Championships three times, noted that he is not motivated by domestic Russian competitions at all, as they cannot replace international competitions in terms of level and intensity of emotions, and the words of the Vladimir Putin regime's accomplice are not true.

"I'm not really interested in Russian competitions anymore. Two years ago, I admired the way everything was organized in the ski federation and wanted to go to Välbe for an internship. I still want to go there. But no one from the Dutch writes to me. And no one envies our Spartakiad, the speed skating one, for sure. I'm not sure they even know about it. Maybe it's different in skiing," Zakharov said.

Earlier, he slammed Russian propaganda that declared figure skater Kamila Valiyeva's disqualification for doping a global conspiracy.
