Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico arrived on an official visit to Ukraine. He met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal as part of the second intergovernmental consultations. It is worth noting that the meeting between Fico and Shmyhal took place in Uzhhorod.

The parties will focus on the economy and energy security. The head of the Ukrainian government announced this on Telegram.

Shmyhal said that the governments of Ukraine and Slovakia would focus on the plan of joint activities signed during the first meeting. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers emphasized that it is about cooperation in infrastructure projects, the economy, and energy security. The Prime Minister noted that a significant portion of Ukraine's electricity imports come from Slovakia, which has never refused to help.

The parties will also discuss strengthening support for the peace plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, support for Ukraine's membership in the EU, as well as demining of Ukrainian territories, humanitarian support, and recovery.

"We continue to cooperate closely in the field of defense procurement. We look forward to signing bilateral documents between Ukraine and Slovakia as a continuation of our policy of new pragmatism," Shmyhal said.

As a reminder, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he intends to block Ukraine's accession to NATO. According to him, the expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance could allegedly lead to the outbreak of World War III. Fico promised that, while in power, he would do everything to prevent Ukraine from becoming part of NATO.

Earlier, Fico said that the war in Ukraine is desirable for the West, which "supports the killing of Slavs." The politician urged "not to suffer from Russophobia" and said that he would like to visit Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II next year.
