Stoltenberg reprimands Ukraine's prospects

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has assured that Ukraine will be part of the North Atlantic Alliance. The official invitation will come after the country fulfills all the conditions.

Stoltenberg said this on July 12, on the second day of the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. He spoke at a briefing together with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. The event was broadcast online (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the page).

According to him, Ukraine is closer than ever to the Alliance. "We will give an invitation to Ukraine when all allies note that all conditions have been met," the politician said.

He also reiterated the position that the country will not join NATO until the end of the war unleashed by Russian Federation.

Partner countries, as Stoltenberg emphasized, will help the AFU to move to Alliance standards in terms of equipment. Also, many NATO countries will commit to providing long-term security assistance.

As OBOZREVATEL wrote:

- On July 11, Stoltenberg said that Ukraine's accession to the Alliance is linked to two criteria. The first is the strengthening of internal defense institutions, the fight against corruption. The second is the end of the war on the territory of Ukraine.
