The most realistic date for Ukraine's accession to the European Union is 2030. By that time, negotiations on our country's accession to the bloc should be completed.

This opinion was expressed by Volodymyr Khandohiy, President of the Ukrainian Foreign Policy Association, on the air of Espresso. He referred to the messages coming from the EU.

"I don't like to set time frames for Ukraine's accession to the EU. However, from the messages coming from the EU, we can conclude that negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union will be completed in 2030. There are statistics on how long it took countries to go through the preparatory period for joining the EU," the diplomat emphasized.

He reminded that Finland, Sweden and Austria are the record holders. At the same time, in some countries, negotiations on EU accession lasted for years. That is why, in his opinion, a more realistic date for Ukraine is 2030, but, Handogiy emphasized, these are only forecasts.

The diplomat noted that Ukraine has to work hard during the EU accession negotiations.

"I think it would be a big mistake if we set a deadline for the end of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. We have a lot of work to do. We need to start moving in this direction and take our time," he said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukraine has set a record by going from applying for membership in the European Union to starting negotiations in just over two years. This is faster than any other candidate country in history, said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
