In the fight against Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine, among other things, needs an effective financial shield. It is very important that Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression can be based on the stability of our society - our vital systems, including the financial system.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during an online address to the participants of the meeting at the World Bank. The meeting was attended by key global financiers - finance ministers of partner countries, heads of leading financial institutions.

The Head of State emphasized that "it is important to see the future when protecting life".

"Not just how you will stand tomorrow, but how you will survive the war. This requires sufficient financial support. Putin has money as a weapon. And we need an effective financial shield," he said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine's minimum budgetary needs have not yet been met this year, and the state counts on the support of partner countries, international institutions, and, in particular, the United States.

The President noted that frozen Russian assets should work against Russian terror. To do this, it is necessary to finally find a format for a solution and direct Russian assets to protect life in Ukraine. The Kremlin as the sole culprit of this war must pay a really painful price for it.

The Head of State noted that Ukraine should already be planning for 2025. According to him, the aggressor state Russia has destroyed a significant part of our energy and economy.

"We need to rebuild. We need a new economic capacity. We have already demonstrated that we are able to carry out even complex reforms and transformations in times of war. And for this, we need your further support: both direct support for the reconstruction and restoration of our energy system, and tools for business such as export financing for the supply of your equipment and technologies, as well as insurance of your business investments by your credit and export agencies," Zelensky said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Zelensky reacted to the Russian attack on Chernihiv, which killed civilians and left many wounded. He once again called on the West to provide Ukraine with air defense systems to protect Ukrainians from the aggressor.
