What will the sequel to Wonka be about: details are known
The character of Wonka first appeared in the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl. The first film adaptation took place in 1971, but the most popular was the 2005 movie starring Johnny Depp.
Last year, a musical fantasy film directed by Paul King based on a script by Simon Farnaby and Paul King was released, in which the role of Wonka was embodied by actor Timothy Chalamet. It has become known that a sequel to Wonka will be released soon. The first details were revealed by Collider.
"Wonka was a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and told the story of the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka. "Wonka is an original story that has never been told in any of the books, so the audience was understandably afraid that the special fantasy atmosphere would be lost. But after its release, the prequel was well received by both audiences and critics.
Screenwriter Paul King says that he always wanted to tell more Wonka stories, even before the prequel was released. The opportunity naturally depended on the success of the movie, and now that the director has even been nominated for a BAFTA award, there is active talk of a sequel.
Recently, King has been busy developing the movie Paddington in Peru. At the premiere of Paddington, he spoke to Hey U Guys and shared a progress report on the sequel to Wonka, saying that he is halfway through writing the initial script.
The screenwriter emphasized that the film is still in the early stages of development, but assured that he has a complete idea of what the plot should be.
"We have about half a draft. So we have a story that we like, and we know where we want to take it next," King said.
The prequel ended with Wonka finally realizing his dream of owning his own establishment. The sequel will tell a new story that was not in any of Ronald Dahl's books.
In the prequel, Timothy Chalamet played the role of Wonka, and although the casting for the sequel has not yet been conducted, the actor will probably appear again in the image of the famous chocolatier.
