What to cook delicious cabbage rolls with besides meat: the result will simply surprise you

Delicious cabbage rolls can be made not only with meat. The dish will turn out to be hearty and fairly budget-friendly if you use ordinary potatoes as a filling. It is best served with sour cream.

The idea of cooking hearty cabbage rolls with grated potatoes was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Myroslava Pekariuk (myroslava_pekariuk). One unusual ingredient should be added to the grated potatoes, namely boiled semolina.

Ingredients:

  • cabbage (small) - 1 pc.
  • potatoes - 400 g
  • semolina - 20 g
  • onion - 1 pc
  • eggs - 1 pc
  • sour cream - 1 tbsp.
  • water - 120 ml
  • salt/pepper

Method of preparation:

1. Add semolina to the salted boiling water, stirring constantly until the porridge thickens, and set aside.

2. Cut the onion into small cubes.

3. Fry it a little and mix it with semolina.

4. Grate the potatoes on a fine grater (as for pancakes) and drain to get rid of starch.

5. Mix the potatoes with the semolina, add sour cream, salt, pepper, and egg and mix.

6. Cut off the cabbage head and put the base in a plastic bag.

7. Tie it up and microwave for 5 minutes.

8. Then remove the leaves and leave to cool slightly.

9. Cut each leaf in half.

10. Put the filling on it and gently roll it up (the filling may be liquid, but it should be).

11. Put the rest of the cabbage in a saucepan, carefully put the cabbage rolls on top, pour water over (a little more than half the pan), bake at 180 degrees for 45 minutes and leave to cool.

12. Fry them in a pan (it is best to do this the next day, when the cabbage rolls have infused a little) with vegetable oil until golden, salt and serve with sour cream.
