Ukrenergo clarifies whether there will be blackout schedules in the coming weeks

Currently, there is a small deficit in the Ukrainian power system, but Ukrenergo successfully maintains a balance between electricity generation and consumption. Therefore, no blackout schedules are expected in the next 2-3 weeks.

This forecast was made by Hennadiy Riabtsev, chief researcher at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, on Ukrainian Radio. He noted that Ukrainians should know the realistic forecast.

Riabtsev said that during the off-season, measures were taken to repair and protect Ukrainian nuclear power plants. They also managed to reach agreements with the Europeans to increase possible electricity imports.

"At the same time, in my opinion, there is no need to be overly optimistic about the fact that interruptions in energy supply are possible only in the event of massive Russian attacks on energy facilities. Because it is not them that can cause certain problems with energy supply. This should be said too. We need to give a realistic forecast, not to scare people with daily blackouts in all regions," the expert said.

Currently, the situation is as follows: Ukraine still imports a certain amount of electricity during peak hours - in the morning and in the evening - but in general, there is a balance. "The power engineers are holding it, and it is unlikely that anything will change in a week, two or three," Ryabtsev said.

It should be reminded that next week, Ukraine will face a drop in air temperature, which may lead to an increase in electricity consumption. Despite this, Ukrenergo does not plan to introduce schedules of hourly power outages.

As reported, power companies in Ukraine have restored power to almost 382 thousand consumers. Ukrainians are asked to use electricity rationally, especially in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00.
