Tractor driver stumbles upon a Tornado-S MLRS cluster warhead in Kyiv region. Photos and details

In Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region, a tractor driver found a Tornado-S cluster munition in a field. SES workers got rid of the dangerous find.

This was reported by the press service of the Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The area is not fully cleared of mines yet.

"In one of the settlements in Vyshgorod district, a tractor driver noticed a dangerous object on the side of the field while carrying out agricultural work. Sappers promptly arrived at the scene and got rid of the remains of a 300 mm Tornado-S cluster warhead," the SES said.

9K515 Tornado-S (S for Smerch) is a Russian 300 mm multiple launch rocket system designed as a lightweight and versatile version of the Smerch system (BM-30, 9K58). It was first introduced in 2007 as a more strategically and tactically mobile launcher, albeit at the expense of a slight reduction in firepower (6 warheads instead of 12).
