Women who are thinking about drastically shortening their hair can be scared. This is due to the unusual appearance and feeling of change. Lack of experience in wearing short haircuts doesn't help either.

However, there is one way to determine for sure whether such a hairstyle will be suitable in each case. The editors of Women magazine told us about this beauty life hack.

The 2.25 rule, invented by the famous hairdresser John Frieda, is to understand what size face you have. This, according to the expert, determines how harmonious a short hairstyle will look.

"John was studying faces and saw that the angle of the jawbone determines whether a person will look better with short or long hair," explained Giles Robinson, senior stylist at Salons UK.

You can use the rule yourself by taking a ruler and a pencil or other long straight object.

Holding the pencil horizontally under the chin, you need to put the ruler vertically under the ear so that you get an L-shape from the two objects. The place where the pencil and ruler meet will be the starting point.

If the resulting number is 2.25 inches (approximately 5.72 centimeters) or less, then short hair will suit you, if it is more, it is better to opt for longer curls.

Experts emphasized that each rule has its exceptions, so it is better to consult a hairdresser who can choose a haircut, taking into account the style, wishes, hair quality, and other factors.
